Tutu : Think I need to give it a little taste test |
 |
Tutu : And another.... |
 |
Tutu : And take yet another long sniff at this interesting aroma |
 |
Tutu : Ahhh, Kitties, if you think tuna is stinky goodness, you should smell this! This is top of the class STINKY! I'm not decided on the goodness bit... |
 |
Whisky : I could smell this in my sleep! Ohhhh, I have not tasted you in a long while |
 |
Whisky : YUM!
Tutu : Did Whisky just say YUM? What am I missing? Give me another taste, Daddy! |
 |
Whisky : That was lip smacking good!
Tutu : Seriously? I still can't decide if I like this or not.... |
The fruit Daddy is holding is called a
Durian (click
HERE to see what the Durian looks like), also known as the King of Fruits in South East Asia. It is a love it or hate it kind of fruit, with many non-Asians going the "hate it" way. If I remember right, I think Durian was on Fear Factor before. :)
And just a few days ago, there was an
interesting news report in Australia with regards to the durian that made us laugh. Here's an excerpt from the article :
"The strong, pungent smell of the durians went into the ventilation
system and reached the office next to ours on the 15th floor of the
Market St building. The staff in the adjoining office, all Caucasians,
panicked because they thought there was a gas leak ... they summoned the
emergency services. The whole floor was evacuated within minutes," he
said.
But in all seriousness, Durian IS very yummy. :)
I started feeling brave and wanted a taste, butt then I read the pawt bout the GAS LEAK. I think I'll pass. :)
ReplyDeleteMum says thanks for the offer but No thanks!! Mum laughed about the ventilation system.
ReplyDeleteLuv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
We've never heard of the fruit, but based on this post and that article excerpt, we don't think we'd try it even if we could get it here. LOL.

ReplyDeleteBOL funny. We can just imagine the panic. They sell them here in Chinatown but we have never tried them. Have a terrific Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Wow--that must be some potent odor to pass as a gas leak! I've heard of the fruit but have never seen it.
ReplyDeleteSo that is where the term stinky goodness really came from!
ReplyDeleteLOL about that Australian article! That is funny! At first I thought I really wanted to try it knowing I most likely have no chance of that, but then you mentioned Fear Factor. Yikes! Tutu and Whisky, you two are brave.
ReplyDeleteIt would probably taste good to me :)
ReplyDeleteUsually Daddys eat the bestest things so we always want to try what he has too!
ReplyDeletehmmmm - interesting. mom watches a tv show called "Bizarre Foods" and apparently that stuff is one of the few things the host (Andrew Zimmeran) won't eat. :)
ReplyDeleteAfter reading the description of how it got in the ventilation system, we're not sure we'd want to try durien. :)
ReplyDeleteBut Tutu looks pretty intrigued! :)

ReplyDeleteTutu, você é muito indeciso, ou será que isso tudo é esperteza? Nós achamos a reportagem engraçada também.
ReplyDeleteWe have never smelled a durian, and after finding out that it smells like a gas leak, it's possible we won't ever get to! We're fascinated that you have such different fruits there than we do here.
ReplyDeleteour mom is from a tropical country, they have durian there but she never tasted fresh durian; she has had durian candy and durian shakes though.
ReplyDeleteEmma and Buster
I've actually heard about that fruit and the smell, but I hadn't actually seen one..
ReplyDeleteomg - they thought the fruit was a gas leak... wow, wow, wow!
ReplyDeleteDoes that mean the fruit gives you gas when you eat it? MOL!
ReplyDeleteWe haven't heard of durian before, but we've smelled some of the fishy dishes our friends from Hong Kong eat, so maybe we'll pass on the gas leak fruit!
ReplyDeleteI want to taste that, too!!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, don't think we have seen or smelled a durian. But we are always ready to test taste anything good. Mom will have to look for those. Especially if Whisky says yum.

During our human much younger days, siblings and kitties sat on the floor in a big circle, all eating durians. But all of us somehow do not fancy them. Enjoy your durians, Whisky and Tutu! Purrs!
ReplyDeleteHmmm I think I'll pass on that one,xx Speedy
ReplyDeleteHmmmmmm! My mum says it tastes pretty good, but smells like the sewer! MOL! Glad you enjoyed yours.
ReplyDeleteCharlie
Tutu has such an expressive face ! Nothing amazes me anymore with cats, since Arthur likes green beans and steals chocolate cookies, lol !
ReplyDeleteA FROOT? You like a FROOT? OK, we'd give it a sniff iffen YOU like it.
ReplyDeleteWe had no idea what they were eating; though, we thought it looked like an orange. We're pretty sure we wouldn't like it. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Joe
ReplyDeleteOh, Durian! I've always been interested in this fruits. All I have heard is it smells like hell but tastes like heaven. How interesting Tutu and Whisky don't mind the smell. It might smell good to them.

Hmmm. We'll have to take your word for it.
ReplyDeleteSo, yes Tutu, you are Viceroy of Chinatown--in SF anyway. I can't really promise you ALL the Chinatowns in ALL the cities in ALL the world. That's something you are just going to have to seize for yourself and I have no doubt about your abilities.
We too say = Thank you , but NO thank you :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting. You have durian there too? We have durian here too. We enjoy eating the fruit.
ReplyDeleteYou guys should taste Chico. I don't like it, but I'm sure the kitties and Whisky will like it like how the pack does.
