Boomer's Wish and Dream

We received an award from Gorogoro and Nikoniko! Thank you so much!

The award is called Premio Destellos Brillantes en el Cielo Azul (Bright Flashes in the Blue Sky Award) and wants us to describe what we dream or wish for most in the world.

The female human caught me back in April 2011 and had me *fixed*.  3 days later and after making sure I was okay, she released me but I refused to leave her as she saved me from a horrible life as an intact stray mancat.  I could tell the human was very happy I stayed as well since she gave me the name Boomerang immediately.  To show my appreciation and love for her, I can often be heard singing loudly to her from the porch during the daytime.

My wish is for humans to realize the importance of neutering so as not to contribute to the number of strays on the streets and for those of us already in the world to be able to get a human to care and love us.

My dream for a handsome mancat like me is to have the Beautiful Admiral to love and be loved in return.  This dream has already come true. *kiss*

The human said I can pass this award to 5 of my friends.  It was tough to choose only 5 so I negotiated for 6!

Darling Admiral from Adventures of Admiral Hestorb (of course!)
Lucy from Lucy's Lounge
Au, Target and Guido from Katz and Other Tales
Mr Darcy and Sookie from Kitcaboodles
Spitty from Spitty Speaks

Felix All Grown Up

It seem like just yesterday that I caught Meow-Me and she gave birth to Coco and Felix 2 weeks later on 9 December 2010.  At 9 months old, it was time to send Felix to be neutered.  I had brought him to the vet last week to be assessed and the appointment was made for this morning.

He cried and shouted all the way to the vet and finally hid under the newspapers (he's never been alone before). The surgery went smoothly and I went in to accompany him in the recovery ward.  When he was more awake, I brought him home.

Help!  I don't like this place!

Felix in the evening.  The vet said she couldn't get a vein as his fur was too thick so she had to shave some fur off

Felix doing what he loves most.  Carrying his feathers all over the place.  He was still rather subdued but alert

Dinner time!
I am going to keep him in the carrier for the night, next to the cage so he is still close to Meow-Me, Coco and Boomer.  He has been sleeping soundly since having his dinner.

Trying To Trap Mr Black

Most of you would know I've been trying to trap the elusive Mr Black to get him treated for mange and to be neutered. I bought a new trap as the one I had borrowed wouldn't shut completely. I fried a nice sardine, put a plate of tuna behind the sardine, spread some tuna on the newspaper leading into the trap, set up the trap, hid behind the wall and waited.

The trap works like a mouse trap.  See the ginger cat?  He's my neighbour's cat.  NOT the intended target.

SHOOO!!!!!  Mr Ginger kitten starts to eat up the tuna.

SHOOOOOO!!!!!

Now Mr Ginger's older sister decides to check out the tuna

All the while I was trying to remain quiet and hidden, Noni (neighbour's cat) decides to keep me company by rubbing and mewing

HEY YOU!  SHOOOOOO!

Mr Ginger couldn't resist the tuna and finally got himself trapped.  HAPPY NOW?
So after several hours hiding, or rather, TRYING to hide, and numerous mosquito bites to show for it, I gave up and gave the remaining tuna to Noni.  And what was Mr Black doing while all these were happening? He was sitting at the opposite side of the road and I swear he was laughing.

I'm going to try to camouflage the trap with some leaves and twigs and see if it helps.  But first I'll have to speak with my neighbor to lock up his cats for the night.....And remember to put mosquito repellent the next time...

The Furries and The King of Fruits

It was the durian season a little while back.  It's called the "King of Fruits" here and you either love it or hate it.  We've heard of very interesting and comical descriptions of this fruit by foreigners because of it's very pungent smell.  You can read a little more about durians here.
This is the flesh of the durian (after having to pry open the thorny husk)

Whisky LOVES durians!

Yummyyy...this durian is gooey....Uh Daddy?  Don't squish the durian!
Felix takes a sniff.  Think it's a "hate at first sniff" with him

This is Manny, who was boarding with us when we bought the durian

Ohhhhhh!  Me LIKEY!!!!!

I'll turn on my "cute face"....maybe the human will bring the fruit nearer.....

Don't be deceived by the pictures.  Whisky only got to eat a small bite of the durian.  Felix and Manny only got to smell it.  Heehee.
