Easy Sunday, Interrupted

Stinky : Would you believe the Lady gave me a bath after feeding me my breakfast this morning? And it involved some wierd smelling stuff and water? Something about me having fleas, she said. AS IF! But she said I was a good boy and didn't try to kill her
I found some flea dirt on my desk Saturday night and went flea hunting. I found and killed several on Tutu. Beings she has close contact with Cosmo, Ling and Boomer, it meant ALL of them needed to be treated for fleas. Meow-Me, Coco and Felix were spared as they stay in a separate area. I assumed she must have gotten it from Stinky as he likes to sit by the main door
Tutu was the first to get a bath after Stinky. I chose her because I knew she would be quiet and not raise the alarm. And yup, she was quiet and cooperative  :)
Cosmo was next. He started off quiet then the crying began, followed by some determined maneuvers to get out of the shower. Sadly for him, Mommy has had lots of practice showering cats
Tutu : Gosh Cosmo, you look awful!
Then we had Boomer. Quite some bit of crying and very determined but unsuccessful moves to escape
Tutu : What's up with you boys? You look like something the cat dragged in. Oh wait. Something Mommy dragged in. Hahaha
I kept Ling for last because I knew the racket she would make (she didn't disappoint!). The neighbors must have thought I was trying to murder her!
Every cat got busy putting their furs back in order
And while they were busy grooming themselves, I started to think about the source of the fleas. True, I had initially assumed it was Stinky, beings he's an outdoor kitty (our TNR) but it was strange that only Tutu seemed to have the most fleas. Stinky only had 3 on him
After more thought on this, I believe the fleas came from the environment, possible an unhatched egg from the odd flea Whisky brought home that escaped our frequent vacuuming. It made sense because Tutu was sleeping where Whisky used to
We have treated the areas with Diatomaceous Earth (food grade) in addition to a more thorough vacuuming of the entire house. We hope this will be the last time we ever face a flea problem in the house
Boomer : Yeah, I hope so too. This shampoo smells YUCK
And now, Easy Sunday begins...

Boomer : Go away, Mommy
Ling : I can't even look at you, Mommy
I apologized to Stinky and gave him a lovely chicken jerky treat for wrongly accusing him. I think he's forgiven me  :)
Stinky : You can accuse me again if you like but only if I get jerky treats after!
I will be following up with the flea bath with the Spot On treatment just to be sure. The kitties have all forgiven me and all is good in the House of Whisppy once again.

We hope your Sunday was a much better one for all of you!

Finally Friday

Stinky : It sure feels good to stretch out on the warm tiles
It will probably rain later, remember to stay dry, you hear?
Stinky : Yes I will. Thank you for taking care of me when I was sick
You're welcome. But please stop chasing after me to rub against my legs, okay?  :)
Boomer : Is Tutu better? When can I see her?
Cosmo : Hi Mommy!
Cosmo : Mmmmmmm. Freeze Dried Beef! Yummy
Cosmo is sneezing a little and has to breathe through his mouth. But his fever has gone down and he's been eating his meals and taking his meds without any fuss
Ling : I'm feeling so much better today!
She has started to eat her meals on her own so no more undignified force feeding sessions (my fingers are relieved!). There's still some mild congestion but she is definitely feeling happier
Ling : Daddy showed me the photos of ME in the last post. How could you post such embarrassing photos of me!
Tutu : I'm feeling much better today too. Good enough to enjoy a little playtime!
Tutu : I'm still a little congested but I am feeling a lot better. Thank you for all your purrs and purrayers for Stinky, Ling, Cosmo and me. We are still being kept separated until Cosmo gets well so please continue to send purrs for him to get better.  xoxo
Just as I thought the worst was over with Ling and Tutu getting better, Cosmo starts sneezing. The good thing is, he isn't at all difficult like his sisfur (Ling) so that's a huge relief.   :) I'm going to need a vacation after this!

We hope to start visiting our furriends again this weekend.

Wordy Wednesday

Stinky : I'm all better now. LET ME OUT!
I know you are feeling better from all your mewing but you can't go until you stop sneezing. I don't want you to spread your germs to the neighborhood cats. It's bad enough that your germs made Ling and Tutu sick and everyone has to be quarantined from each other
Stinky : I made my friends sick? Oh. I'm so sorry, Ling and Tutu. I didn't mean for that to happen
Boomer : I get to be downstairs, all on my own. I'm so bored. I miss Tutu
Cosmo : I'm in Mommy's office and I get the chair all to myself though I do miss my sisfur, Ling
Tutu : I hate being sick though it's kinda nice to have Mommy and Daddy fuss over me. PLUS I get to sleep with them on the bed every night (Daddy usually doesn't allow us on the bed but now he just lets me sleep wherever I want, even on HIS side of the bed)
Ling : Well, lucky Tutu gets the bedroom while I am stuck the bathroom. Hrrummpf
That's because you'll make a huge fuss to get out and no one will get any sleep. We still fuss over you, right?
Whisky : I have a QUESTION for you!
So we have Ling and Tutu sick at the moment and both have lost their appetite. Who do you think is the good patient and who's the bad patient? Take a minute to think about it then scroll down for the answer....
We found that if we left the plate on the floor, Tutu would struggle to eat due to the congestion. So we hold the plate up for her and she is able to eat better
Her appetite isn't great, but she does make an effort to eat on her own
And then we have Ling.  :)
She'll be sleeping but as soon as we open the door with her food, she does this. We don't think it's because she can't wait to eat, but rather as a sign of disgust because we have to force feed her (she refuses to eat on her own)
And this is AFTER being force fed. Sigh
Did you guess right?
Ling and Tutu are on antibiotics (both had fever) and Lysine (they caught a cold). I am guessing they should make a full recovery by this weekend. Until then, everyone will continue to be quarantined to ensure the situation remains under control. Cosmo, Meow-Me, Coco, Felix and Boomer are all alright.

Stinky the stray will be released once he stops sneezing, possibly in another day or two.

We're sorry for being scarce the last few days but it's really stressful at the moment. We'll come by to visit as soon as we can!

In the meantime, if you have purrs to spare, we'll appreciate if you could send them over!  :)

Tutu Tuesday

Tutu : I have never smelt anything like this before
* S N I F F F F F F F F *
Tutu : Think I need to give it a little taste test
Tutu : And another....
Tutu : And take yet another long sniff at this interesting aroma
Tutu : Ahhh, Kitties, if you think tuna is stinky goodness, you should smell this! This is top of the class STINKY! I'm not decided on the goodness bit...
Whisky : I could smell this in my sleep! Ohhhh, I have not tasted you in a long while
Whisky : YUM!
Tutu : Did Whisky just say YUM? What am I missing? Give me another taste, Daddy!
Whisky : That was lip smacking good!
Tutu : Seriously? I still can't decide if I like this or not....
The fruit Daddy is holding is called a Durian (click HERE to see what the Durian looks like), also known as the King of Fruits in South East Asia. It is a love it or hate it kind of fruit, with many non-Asians going the "hate it" way. If I remember right, I think Durian was on Fear Factor before.  :)

And just a few days ago, there was an interesting news report in Australia with regards to the durian that made us laugh. Here's an excerpt from the article :

"The strong, pungent smell of the durians went into the ventilation system and reached the office next to ours on the 15th floor of the Market St building. The staff in the adjoining office, all Caucasians, panicked because they thought there was a gas leak ... they summoned the emergency services. The whole floor was evacuated within minutes," he said.

But in all seriousness, Durian IS very yummy.  :)

Happy 13th Birthday, Whisky!

Stinky : Yo, Whisky! I heard it's your birthday today. So, Happy Birthday, furry girl. I'll bring you a roach later
Whisky : Thank you very much but I don't think Mommy would appreciate the roach. She was pretty upset when you brought a live FLYING roach to the porch a few days ago
Stinky is our TNR who visits often
Whisky : Wow! A Birthday present from everyone!
The card and wrapping paper has cats on them as the kitties contributed to the present with their allowance
Whisky : Are you done with the photos? I wanna see what's inside!
Whisky : Woo Hoo! Check out the "Little Something Just For ME"!
All her presents came from Nip and Bones and the rope toy and biscuit treats were from Baby Patches Chief Kit. Thank you so much!
Whisky : This coconut biscuit is really hard but oh, so YUMMY!
Whisky : Whaaaat? There's more? Peanut butter biscuit you say? Hand it over!
Whisky : Crunch crunch crunch
Tutu : Sniff sniff sniff...
Tutu : It sure smells...uh, wierd
Felix : Give it here if you aren't going to eat it
Tutu : How DARE you eat my treat!
Felix : But you weren't going to eat it
Tutu : So what? Daddy gave it to me!
For some strange reason, our Eat-Everything-In-Sight-Tutu doesn't seem to like beef liver. Not even the cat vitamin that is beef liver flavored
Boomer : While Whisky's eating her treats, I'll play with her rope toy. It's FUN!
Cosmo & Ling : Mmmmmm. This freeze dried beef liver is delicious!
Tutu : No Beef Liver for me. I love the Freeze Dried Chicken!
Whisky : Thank you Mommy, Daddy, Brofurs and Sisfurs. I LOVE my presents! Now, please put my presents in a safe place before the kitties eat them all
HAPPY 13th BIRTHDAY, PRECIOUS PRINCESS WHISKY!
