All About Whisky

Mommy here, to give everyone an update on Whisky.

Whisky resting at home after the Echocardiogram
On April 20, Whisky had a very bad bout of diarrhea from a bad batch of the regular food she's been eating the last few months. A vet visit and some fluids later and her diarrhea cleared up. But the fluids caused her to start coughing (we stopped the fluids earlier than planned because of this). A further check revealed a very bad murmur in her heart. The situation became critical and she had a diuretics injection which flushed out the fluids and the coughing ceased.

However, her vet was very concerned about the murmur and suggested that we brought her to the Specialist to have an Echocardiogram done. The Echo revealed a tear in a valve in her heart (it's called a ruptured chordae tendinae) which may tear off completely at any time. Surgery is the only option. But even so, only ONE vet does this surgery and is done at a neighboring country. The stress of travelling and being in unfamiliar surroundings and people will do Whisky a lot of harm and she may not even survive the trip (if by plane, she has to be in cargo. If by car, it would take up to 5 hours of travelling). The surgery is also not a guarantee fix as the problem may come back.

After much discussion, we have decided that the best option would be to let Whisky be home, surrounded by her family and lots of love. It has been extremely difficult for me to try to stay strong for Whisky. I had posted updates on my Facebook and received a lot of very kind and meaningful messages. The one that made so much sense was the one from Isabella and Angel's Mommy, Sharla. She had said, and I quote her entire comment, "I did the same thing with Sadie and was told by a wonderful blog friend to remember that she didn't know her diagnosis but she knew I was upset. It is the hardest thing in the world to be strong at a time like this but enjoy every moment and try to let her see your happy Mommy side like always so it's normal for her. Tell her we all love her!". Thank you, Sharla, for sharing that comment with me.

Whisky is currently on some heart medications to help her stay comfortable. I do not know how long we have left, but I am grateful we have had at least 14 happy years together. She is and always will be my heart dog. I love my Whisky so much.

We would most definitely appreciate all the love and good thoughts, purrs and woofs you could send for Whisky to stay comfortable. Of utmost importance to us, is her quality of life. We will keep going until she tells us it's time for her to join her BBF (Best Bunny Friend), Looppy at the Rainbow Bridge.

I will try to post updates whenever possible but my priority now is to spend whatever time we have left with Whisky. I am sure you understand. xoxo

Happy Chinese New Year!

The Lion pays his respect to the "Gold" before he offers it to the Host
Oh wait! The *Lion* is distracted!
No, Tutu, err, LION, NO nibbling on the scroll!
Tutu : What? I'm supposed to dance in this Lion suit?
R O A R!!!!!
Pssst, Tutu...you are not supposed to be seen...
Tutu : Oh, okay okay, let's try this again
R O A A A A R R R R R!!!!!
Tutu : But Mommy, Lion keeps sliding off!
Tutu : Silly Lion. You've gotta keep up with my moves!
Lion : Bop my nose, will ya?
Tutu : Yikes!
Lion : I am a descendant of the ferocious Lion who defended the village from the evil Nian!
Tutu : You come down here and I'll show you ferocious!
Tutu : Stop flicking that silly scroll in my face and fight like a real Lion!
Whisky : Gong Xi Fa Chai, everyone! May the Year of the Horse bring us good health and lots of happiness!
Please click HERE to watch a video of a Lion Dance performance

Mommy here : Whisky scared us a little with some recent health challenges but we've finally sorted them out and she's feeling a lot better and on the road to a full recovery. Thank you for all the good thoughts and prayers!

We'll resume our visiting and commenting as soon as Tutu is done fighting with Lion. Hahaha!

Happy Belated Gotcha Day, Meow-Me!

This was Meow-Me when I caught her on November 20, 2010
She was HUGE!
But yet so thin and had very bad skin and fur. She gave birth to Coco and Felix 2 weeks later, battled Mastitis and it took a long time to fix her skin and fur but it was all worth it because.....
Look at her today!
This picture makes me laugh!
Meow-Me : I'm coming over, so get your hands ready for a petting session!
*scratch scratch scratch*
Meow-Me : Ahhhhhhhhhh
Meow-Me : If you whap my butt at the right spot, I start licking the floor. Tee hee
HAPPY BELATED GOTCHA DAY, Meow-Me! We love you, your cute round shape (despite whatever diet I put you on) and your raspy Marge Simpson meows!

Whisky : We won a giveaway on Twinkletoe Tails for a pack of Trading Cards from Just4MyPet. We had an emergency meeting to see who got to be on the cards and of course it was going to be ME! Silly kitties
Whisky : The cards were sent out very quickly after we placed the order and it arrived 2 weeks later (which is normal for mail coming from the US). Doesn't it look great? I sat with Mommy to choose the pictures and the design template. What do you think?
Cosmo, Ling and Tutu are back to their usual self and are spending the days hanging out together in my office while we wait for Boomer to make a full recovery (yes, the poor boy caught the bug on Nov 16) which shouldn't be long now (he's finally gotten past the worst bit).

It's been 24 days since Stinky fell ill and the kids caught the bug one after the other. I'm glad it's finally going to be over. We'll be coming over to visit so, see you guys soon! We've missed everyone!
