Meow-Me thinks she's a koala-cat |
See how clean my towel is? Yeah, that's right, Mommy. It's because I'm not wearing that ridiculous cone! |
As most of you know, Bernie had his left foot amputated on Friday. We went back to the vet on Sunday to get the bandage changed and his incision was healing very nicely. When we got home, we removed the e-collar so he could eat and groom himself. A little later, we went out to get some groceries and when we got home, the collar was off, his bandage was almost off and he had pulled out a stitch, leaving a little gaping hole. We bandaged him back as well as we could and brought him to the vet on Monday. And it was then that the vet declared he had not only ripped out one stitch, but he had also loosen a few other stitches which meant the stitches had to be removed and the site stitched up again. Bernie, Bernie. Now when we put the collar back on, we have to do the "tug-test" to make sure it's very secure. My heart thumps harder and louder every time I check on Bernie for fear of what I may find...
Bernie has also been throwing tantrums every time he has his collar on. He would pee and scatter poop all over the towels instead of his litter box (he's litter box trained) which means there's that many towels I have to wash. Today, I put bed pads on top of the towels, so hopefully it helps to make cleaning easier.
I really hope there will be no more "excitements" until 7 June when he goes back to the vet to have the stitches removed. We'll try to visit everyone soon...till then, don't forget us!

Bernie, be good! Don't upset your beans and for heaven's sake, let yourself heal properly.
Continued purrs for your recovery, and your mom's sanity. LOL.
We hope your ouchie heals up soon Bernie but if you keep taking off that bandage and biting your wound you could find you are wearing it for a long time. We are crossing our paws and hoping he won't do it again.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Naughty Bernie , our paws are crossed that nothing else happens till the next vet visit!
Best wishes Molly
Awwwww lovely Bernie!!! The cone will come off soon, don't you worry! Just a few more days!! Big hugs from me and Charlie! Take care

Oh Bernie... try not to interfere with those stitches. They're there to help you heal, little one. I know the collar must be icky but it's there to help you, too. I'm sending purrs, little guy... and lots of them, too. purrs
Meow-me is having fun, Bernie not so much! Hang in there Bernie and heal up quickly!
Oh Bernie - we know the lamp shades are evil, but apparently for your own good - behave yourself young man!!
Behave Bernie! It's for your own good
Nola
Oh Bernie, you remind me way too much of my Ollie. I feared dealing with his VAS due to his intense dislike of being locked away, and even intenser dislike of the cone of shame. I left him alone for a short while with out it and he ripped out most of his stitches too!
I hope you heal up right quick and aren't subject to such indignities of a human who loves and cares for you more then you can understand much longer :)
Oh Bernie, naughty boy. I hope he will keep the stitches and bandage this time so he can heal soon.
Meow-Me is a very cute koala-cat :-)

Sorry we are so far behind on everyones posts! But so glad to hear Bernie is on the road to recovery now.
Big healing slobbers
Bernie, that is such a pain to wear that darn collar isn't it. We don't blame you one bit for chewing off the bandage. Maybe Mom could put something on the bandage that would taste really bad. Hope you keep that collar on and the bandage on too.
Meow me, you do look silly on that tree. Have a great day.

He has character, no doubt ! and you have a lot of work, naughty Bernie !
I always have to laugh when I see Meow Me ! She looks all white and then she has this colored tail mixture of Ginger and Tabby cats ! Nature is very creative when it comes to cat fur patterns !
oh bernie, we hope your ouchie goes away soon.
purrs,
emma and buster
Bernie, PLEASE let mom take care of you and NO more tantrums. That makes it extra hard for mom and more and more work. That's not thoughtful, and I know you want to show mom some gratitude for all she has done for you.
Be a good boy. Tell me you will.
Purrs and huggles
OH Bernie
Be a good bun and let yourself heal.

Bernie, I understand what it's like to have stitches since I had them recently too but you have to leave them alone! We want you to get better!
Woos,
Sadie
Bernie, you gotta wear that thing so you'll heal all up!! Okay??
(They make soft cones which are a little more comfortable. Do you think Bernie would wear one of those?)
C'mon Bernie, get better!!!
Poor Bernie!
Stiches itch! Me hates them
Kisses
Nellie
Bernie, Be a good boy! After you heal up you can be as naughty as you want, pal. No one would blame you! But for now, chill out!
Meow Me, I loves your tailio!
Oh Bernie be good for your Mom!!!
WE could never ever forget you!!
Purrs to you dear Bernie for healing up quickly with ease. Please don't chew your stitches sweetheart, we want you to heal up ASAP!
Poor Bernie! He just doesn't understand. If someone put a cone of shame on us we would have fits too!
You can make any animal into an avatars! The mom would be happy to make it for you if you'd like.
So sorry. We didn't realize this. We will be purring very hard fur Bernie's foot and a quick recovery. xoxoxo
oh my, what an upset. Poor dear Bernie, and what a worry for you. I wish we could convey to our animals that we are trying to help not hinder them. We are thinking of you all and sending love! Love Helen, Darcy and Bingley xxx
my Angel Bobo had done the same thing years ago when his cone was removed.
Instead of the cone the vet put on an elastic bandage type of thing that he couldn't chew off. It worked. Can they do that for Bernie?
Poor Bernie....things will get better....take care, my friend....
oh poor thing! rocket was horrible when they had to remove a growth on his leg. we tried everything, including the e collar and he learned how to remove everything and get to his stitches. it was a long 2 weeks and he had only a couple stitches by the time we took him to get them taken out. :(
Oh Bernie, we know you don't like that cone, but it is for the best. Please be a good boy, okay?
Sending you lots of purrs, Bernie. I think they work for Bunnehs, too! XOXOXO
Hope little Bernie heals quickly! I guess he doesn't like his cone!
Your pal, Pip
Bernie,
we hope you can get better very very fast
