Just home from the vet |
Today is Friday, just past midnight and she's still a little "off". She did not come home with pain meds nor was she given any after the spay (this is normal here).
She would lick her tummy fur (her incision is covered with a tape) but when she sees the tape, she would growl and get very angry. I've never had any cat act this way after a spay so I'm a little concerned. Tutu has always been a little bit of a drama queen so I'm not sure what to make of it. Is she in pain or is she just being Tutu the Tortie? Help?
Would appreciate some purrs that Tutu feels better soon and back to her normal self.

Poor Tutu!
I have never seen a cat growl at their scars either, but I wouldn't be surprised with Tutu!
Deli and Sweet Pea weren't given pain killers either and Sweet Pea was lethargic for almost 3 days.
If Tutu is eating and eliminating, she's probably okay, but I'm sure a vet could shed some light on it. The kitties are all sending purrs that Tutu feels just like herself soon!
Awww, Tutu! We missed the spay post, we're so sorry. We're sending purrs for her recovery! Nope, we've never heard of growling at the scars, either!
she's probably a little sore and its making her frustrated but give her a few days and she'll settle down
Hope Tutu is feeling better real soon! Don't know what to say about the growling - Finn was out of it for about a day and a half and then seemed back to her normal self.
It might be a good thing to call the vet and report what is going on. 24 hours to recover from a spay is not unusual but after that it can be concerning enough that the vet wants to take a peek (this said from someone who worked at a vet and did spay/neuter pick ups)
I actually had a dream about you last night. It was rather funny. I was in a school I've never seen before and a bunch of people had small white squarish bowls with white stuff in it (I'm guessing yogurt but it never got to that point) each of the bowls were labeled and one was labeled "Tu", and I said oh is that Tu for TuTu! and you laughed at me and said yes and you couldn't believe I 'recognized' it and I said I just loved the picture of TuTu in a tutu.. and you laughed at me again.. it was a cute thing to wake up to.
Poor baby! Paws crossed.
I have no advice; here in the US we do that differently. Both the cats and Nola were given 5 days worth of pain meds, and the incision is left uncovered.
Nola's Mom
Hey, I is a furiend of Pip's and thought I'd drop by. Guess I came at a good time to send some healing vibes to Tutu. Such a purty kitteh.
Just like Nola said, my incision was left uncovered and I had pain meds. Nows, I don't knows da furst thing bouts kittehs but maybe her just like sumptin on her dat ain't suppose to be theres. But I would call da vet to make sures all is okays.

Wishing Tutu a rapid recovery , we are sure she will be OK. Have a great Thursday.
Best wishes Molly
Poor hungover baby. The boys around here seem not to even notice but the girls take longer. Though growling at the surgical tape is new. :) I say if she isn't better after 24 hours, maybe call the vet.
Aww, poor little girl, we're sending purrs her way! I wonder if the tape tastes funny and that's why she's giving it the growls? She probably wants it gone, but it's a good thing she's not chewing on it, so give her a little time. Though check to see if she's having a reaction to the tape? People can be allergic to sticky tape, I'm betting cats can too.
We're glad Tutu is doing okay. Hopefully she is just frustrated with the soreness, and that's why she's growling...
We are all sending tons of purrs to you beautiful Tutu!
At least you don´t have the shame cone on your head Tutu :)
Hope you heal up real quick so you can run around and jump like you wan´t to !
We hope Tutu is better real soon. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a female cat, so can’t really remember what’s normal! Give it a couple of days xx

Aw Tutu purring you feel better from your spay Mom got me several months after mine so no personal experience. Through growling could be at wanting access to spot and tape preventing it. Best thoughts to you
Please say she is better. I am away from home and very very concerned. I will be back with Katie Saturday afternoon. I will check each day. Xxxooo to you, Boomie and precious Tutu.
Keep a close watch on Tutu and observe her for the next 48 hours. She should be fine ... but in the event that she develops fever or not being so Tutu, you better go see the Vet yah.
Sending lotsa purrs to Tutu
Purrs for Miss Tutu! We hope that by now she is more herself...and please let her know that her's & Boomer's and Cosmo's surfing entries are going up tomorrow!
Aww, poor Tutu! Purrs fur her complete recovery. I'd give her a little more time. xoxo
We are purring that Tutu is okay. If she is acting normal otherwise, we'd just keep an eye on her, but if any thing changes, contact the vet.
Send sweet Tutu all my furry best purrs! Madie Mitten Kitten sends her luff too ;-)
I had two female kittens spayed on Wednesday: one was fine and behaved normally after she came home, just an hour or two after surgery, she played, jumped, but she did lick her scar (it is left uncovered here as well, but they spray a silvery thing on it). No pain meds. The other one was still wobly and slept through most of the rest of Wednesday and Thursday, altough she did have short playing intermezzos. Today she is bouncy as always.
If Tutu is going to the toilet that is perfect, she might be still wearing off some of the anesthesia. The immune system is affected by such a surgery, maybe give her some extra vitamins? Another of our kitties is feeling under the weather after the spaying surgery and on one eye the third eyelid showed:(
Get well and bouncy soon, Tutu!
Awwww..poor Tutu..What, coming home wiff no happy juice..When Alfie had the chop.( which is a lot easier for boys ) the vets gave him pain meds before sending him home.
Tutu will be ok, just needs a bit of quite time :)
Big Purrs to yooo's
Mollie and Alfie xx
Tutu, healing purrs coming your way, little one!
Tom xx
Glad Tutu's surgery went well. But so sorry she is still a bit off. I have no idea why she gets angry to see the tape. Maybe it's a good idea to ask the vet. I hope it's just the case she is being Tutu the Tortie. I hope she feels better very soon.
somehow we missed the spay too! I wouldn't worry, as someone else said give it a little more time. The tape may be bothering her (as in itching) and she may be growling at it because she is upset with it. Watch that she doesn't try and chew the tape off, my Angel Bobo did that when he had tail surgery once
Purrs for a speedy recovery
Tutu! Just don't rip it out or attempt to do so, okay?
We wouldn't want you to be forced to wear the cone of shame and walk around with a satellite dish on your head.
On a serious note, we hope yo get better soon. I'm sure you will be all right.
Huggies and Cheese,
Haopee
I hope Tutu feels better very very soon!
Love and hugs
