Boomerang And Whisky

Boomerang has taken over our porch, driveway and tiny garden.  I lock him in a cage at night to keep him safe from visiting cats (he's already been beaten up twice by FEMALE cats since he moved in). When visiting cats come during the daytime, he can always be found hiding behind our bicycles.  He isn't much of a fighter, this Boomer.

Whisky goes out every morning to get some sun and fresh air and Boomer is always trying to get her attention.  He's learnt that she means no harm and no longer hisses at her.  He still swats her but I'm always there to make sure he keeps his claws to himself (which he does).

Boomer : HEY hey hey hey hey hey!

Boomer having fun stalking Whisky who's oblivious to what he's up to

HEY!  Look at me will ya?!

Sniff....sniff...ooooohhh....I think I smell biscuits!

Boomer : you stay away from MY biscuits!
Whisky : EEKKK!
Sweet Admiral, I asked the Human to give me a bath before taking this photo.  I wanted to look my best for you.  *blush* Do you like it?

Ling and the Betta

I recently added a Betta to my office.  Ling is totally fascinated by him and would sit for long periods of time just watching him.  She has taken to staring long and hard at the little fella and even trying to fish him out of his tank.  Ever since she tried to climb into the tank and later tried to push the tank off the table, Mr Fish is now placed at an "out of reach" area when I am not in the room.

Mr Betta

Ling staring intently at Mr Betta

"Knock! Knock!"  Wanna come out to play?

Hey!  I'm talking to you!

Bat bat bat....

What is Silvervine? :)

It comes in a box...

The silvervine are individually sealed
I had seen a small box of "silvervine powder" at the pet section of a Japanese shop but never thought much of it until I saw a video of Maru having fun with a silvervine stick.
Watch Maru : Maru and Silvervine Stick

It's Asia's version of catnip and popular in Japan.  You can read a little more about it here : What is Silvervine (Actinidia Polygama).  Some say it's even more potent than catnip!

Ling : I don't know what it is, but it makes me C-R-A-Z-Y!
I'm not sure if you can get silvervine outside of Asia but perhaps you could try the pet section of a Japanese specialty store?

Silvervine

Cosmo : Silvervine!  Lick, lick, lick...

Roll roll roll

The eyes of a cat high on silvervine

This stuff is jolly good!

Ling : Quit hogging the silvervine!  It's my turn.

Ling : Lick lick lick....
Both Cosmo and Ling hardly respond to catnip so I was pretty surprised when they responded the way they did to the powdered silvervine...it was fun to watch, though!

Boomerang

Whisky broke up a potential fight between this spotted cat (whom I have never seen before) with the resident tomcat (Felix's father).  As the cat was cornered, I took the risk of petting it and it didn't seem to mind.  So I took a bigger risk by scruffing it and it just hung limp.  Seizing this opportunity, I checked and found it to be a male cat, probably no older than 8 months.

Boomerang just after he was caught
I put him into a carrier and made an appointment to have him neutered the same evening (I caught him in the morning).

That was on Thursday, 28 April 2011.  I released him on Sunday but he refuses to leave, rubbing all over my legs everytime he sees me (which makes me feel like a giant catnip).  I decided to name him Boomerang since he comes back everytime I throw him out.  LOL.

Boomer : You're safe under my watchful eyes!

Boomer keeps me company

Boomer takes his role as guardcat very seriously
It does feel really nice to have a "bodyguard" everytime I go outside.  He follows me everywhere I go!  We feed him twice a day and he has a clean bowl of water to drink from.

This is Felix's dad and the current resident Tomcat.  I'm still trying to capture him to get him neutered but he is very wary of humans.  He used to be a very handsome cat when he first arrived but with all the fighting to maintain his territory, his face is now riddled with scars.
Felix's father was brought to the neighbourhood by a new neighbour almost 2 years ago.  The neighbour didn't have him neutered and allowed him to roam and now they do not even feed him.  We hear him calling and fighting almost on a daily basis now that another intact male (black cat) has started challenging his territory.

We Are BACK!

WE ARE BACK!

We have tried EVERYTHING to make Mummy update our blog but she kept telling us "later" as she claimed she was "busy". Yeah, right. Anyway, here are some quick updates on us since the last posting (back in December 2010!).  Now that we got Mummy back on track, we hope we can get her to STAY on track!  Wish us luck.....

Whisky looking smug after wiping her face on the sofa, much to her daddy's disgust.  Hee hee hee.

Cosmo enjoying a roll on the big pillow

Ling is still trying to capture Da Bird

Remember Meow-Me and her kittens? Well, the female kitten is now called Coco while her brother is Felix. Everyone has been vaccinated and dewormed and Meow-Me spayed. The little family is still with us while waiting to be adopted.

From L to R : Felix, Coco, Meow-Me
Mummy : I have no good reason for not updating the furries blog for so long and for that, I am truly sorry....
