Meow-Me : See! GOT YA! |
Meow-Me is probably classified under "obese" and Mommy knows obesity is no laughing matter. Meow-Me doesn't eat a lot and despite what the pictures show, she can be pretty agile when she chooses to. Her "roundness" is pretty much confined to her tummy area and I can't help but wonder if it has something to do with her having had babies before (I caught her as a pregnant stray so I don't know how many litters she has had before I had her spayed after the births of Coco and Felix)? Is this possible?
All the cats follow a strict mealtime so there's no grazing between meals. Treats are given out once a day. I have tried to up her exercise regime but nothing seem to work in reducing her tummy size. Does anyone have any suggestions?

OH SO CUTE!!!
Too cute! My Leo is a lazy player too and he's not in the least pudgy. It may not be the right thing to say, but I think if she's healthy otherwise, I wouldnt worry about a little tummy. She's happy? Not uncomfortable and panting on little movement? Then she's probably ok, if pudgy. Like I said, that's just me, I'm no vet..
No suggestions from us, but we think she's fine! You know Derry has a short, compact, pudgy body-type. His weight has maintained at just shy of 12 pounds for some years now. We'll say they're just "easy keepers," which is a common expression with regard to horses. :-)
No suggestions from here either, but I myself have published the lazy cat guide to DaBird MOL Meow-Me looks fine from here :)
Some people can eat virtually nothing and look chubby so why can't it be the same for animals. Don't you listen to anyone who passes comment on your weight Meow-Me - you are just right for a cuddle.

No suggestions from us as we have no cats but sure someone will have an idea or two. Have a tremendous Thursday.
Best wishes Molly
you are such a cutie!
I love that tail…
I think your tummy is perfect…
We skip the treats here to reduce the belly… We use dry food as a treat and wet as meals
How old is Meow me??? It could be that she just isn't as active as she once was. Dry food will definitely put weight on the cats. Also, just like people some people can eat more than others. Try cutting back on her amounts and see what happens. Meow me it is good to see you.
It is so good to see you! We have been thinking of you and hoping you're doing okay. xo
Meow Me...tell Mom to get you a treadmill (and a can of tuna)
Just sayin!
Meow Me is fluffy not fat!!
And it appears you are your peeps are doing all the right things. Cats are just like humans sometimes it is just hard to keep their weight down. It is hard with one cat. I don't know how you do it with multiple Kitties. I have to watch what she eats too because she would surely gain easily....and she is very vocal when she thinks it is time for
her to eat
hugs madi's mom
You are adorable, Meow-Me. We call kitties like you "Meatloaf". That just means there is more to hug!
Pee Ess: We really like that striped tail :)
That looks like so much fun! WE don't have any suggestions either and 2 of my sisters have that problem as well.
I have the same shape Meow-Me! I don't eat a lot since that'd require getting up from a nap and since my asthma is better I play a lot too but I'm still round. Oh well, I think I'm perfect and so are you!
Purrs,
Isabella
pfft - Ivy never had kittens and has that problem. :)
MOL We don't have any good suggestions as several of us would qualitfy to appear in this post! We suspect it doesn't have much to do with having kittens as none of us has had any (well, MMM probably did have several litters, but she isn't the only one with this problem).
Awww so cute! I love huff huff huff pictures :-) I have no idea about her roundness, but like you said, I think it can be because of her having babies as many humans struggle with post-baby bellies as well.
I wouldn't worry to much as long as she is healthy,xx Rachel
If she is healthy and it's not impacting her abilities any I wouldn't worry too much. Unless you are missing another pet - then I'd worry

If you lived in the US I'd recommend the food I'm on to lose weight. But it's not available in your country. Maybe your vet would have a suggestion.,
Meow-Me, we thinks you are adorable. You sure know how to show Da Bird who the boss is. We agrees with the others who said as long as you are healthy and feeling good your mom should not worry.

Pretty good moves fer a "tubby". An don't worry, I'm there too. ~ Iza
Calista Jo is built exactly the same way, and she never had any kittens. We think some kitties just get bellies. We all have the same foods and portions and some of us are super skinny and others are chunky. Mom says our basic shapes hereditary. We love your toesies, Meow-me. XO, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
My Mom is fluffy and she doesn't sit and eat all day. Wish I had an answer! Love, Cody
Meow-Me, you could be in the Round-Bellies Club with our brother Maxx and sister Zuzu, both active but with round, basketball bellies. We think some kitties are more prone to this shape just as some, like our supermodel sister Olivia, are forever tall and sleek. Purrs...
Sweet Meow-Me we think you look just fine. Some of us are just built short and round. If you are in good health then we don't see an issue. We think you are adorable. Hugs and nose kisses
Muito bem! Você mostrou para ele quem é que manda hehehe.
Dunno about the tummy but I LOVE her tailio! It’s got so many colors.
We love watching Meow-me have such a great time. We don't have any suggestions, but it looks like a few others above had some good ones.
Hey there Meow-Me! Very good job chasing that wild birdie!
Now as to her girth. Buddy Budd was probably over 20# when he came to us and his limping got Dad to think of loosing weight.
We all went to wet food on a meal plan of morning and evening. We are all males except for Fitz and eat a bit less than a can a day each.
Buddy went to 13-14# and is really fit at that as his weight is all in his chest. He looks like a body builder from the top.
If she is 14 or less it may be the way she is built.
Purrs
I like what Andrea said up at the top. I think Meow Me looks so adorable and I know how you feed your kitties so I'm pretty sure she's a healthy gal. She sure looks happy. Annie has been skipping the play and wanting to go straight to the treats lately, but she's still the same weight (I keep a close eye on that since she has a very stocky build).
I've missed seeing everyone. :) Love you guys!
Oh Meow-Me, you are such a cutie, love these pics of you, just adorable!
I don't understand it either. My best friend's Kitty Snowball is the same way. She is active, agile, eats indoor low calorie cat food and is round too. Meow-Me is adorable killing Da-Bird though!
Marty's Mom
You caught it! EXCELLENT.
Purrs,
Nissy
PS. My sister Mason has quite the tummy on her. Peep says it's partly 'cause she came to us preggers but had to have an emergency C-section and the baby (there was only one) didn't survive. That and the fact that Mason refuses to learn how to do sit-ups. MOUSES!
Hmmm, mes knows she is not fat!
Shes just shaped different!
Kisses
Nellie
No good suggestions from us either:(
But Meow-Me looks very cute chasing da Birdie :)
XOXO
It could just be the way her body is shaped. Maybe one of the breeds in her is shaped that way. Or you could be right about babies. I seem to remember my first cat having a hanging belly after her first litter and after being spayed.
I think she looks perfect anyhow! If she is healthy and agile, I don't see what's wrong with it. I love how you make it sound like she was panting and pushing at her exercises, that was cute! :)
DA BIRD!
Oh Meow-Me! Don't worry, you'll get slimmer? What did the vetties think?
Is the bird for exercise?
WE have the same problem over here! Well, not with Faraday, but Maxwell's getting the swinging pouch and he prefers for the wand toy to come to HIM as well!
*sigh*
There was no reason to hardly move to have some fun with the bird toy. You are just too adorable in the photos. Thanks for sharing the lovely photos. Have a wonderful rest of your day.
